Anderson Family Football Complex, University of Kansas

This 80,000 SF football training facility includes a strength and conditioning room, sports medicine area, hydrotherapy room, meeting rooms, team locker room, team lounge and nutrition area, equipment room, video editing area, and coaches’ offices. In addition, it includes a public hall of fame area with interactive exhibits, player recognition areas, and a multi-purpose recruiting room. This two-level facility is carefully nestled into the surrounding Campanile Hill area and is comprised of exterior materials that complement the existing architecture of Memorial Stadium and the KU campus. Sustainable design features include energy-efficient HVAC systems, a green roof and increased opportunities for natural light. The green roof over the 20,000 SF weight room helps reduce energy costs and enables the scale of the facility to be reduced, minimizing its impact on the adjacent Campanile Hill – the site for KU’s annual graduation tradition of walking down the Hill to the stadium.

John McKay Center, University of Southern California

HNTB is designing a 100,000-SF athletics and academics facility at the University of
Southern California. Functions will include student athlete academic services, sports
medicine, football operations, football lockers, auditorium and conference rooms, and
a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning room. Working within an existing campus
with two defined architectural styles, the architectural design of the John McKay
Center bridges both the Romanesque and pre-Gothic style with the Tuscany and
Southern European style by using materials and motifs from both periods and adds to
the existing fabric of the campus buildings. The landscape design reflects the campus
design criteria and the functional parts of the building reflects the campus criteria
established by USC’s Capital Construction Department and their Facilities Management
Services.

Bob Carpenter Sports Center Addition, University of Delaware

The addition to Bob Carpenter Sports Center is currently in the construction document phase. The new facility will have over 50,000 sq ft of space with an addition to the south west side of the existing arena. A new main entry lobby will create an impressive entrance for student-athletes and coaching staffs.

The addition will house multiple practice courts for volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball as well as an additional sports medicine area. The basketball programs will have state of the art practice gyms as well as locker rooms, team meeting areas, and coaches offices. The volleyball practice facility will accommodate three competition size courts, new locker rooms, and coaches offices. The larger gym will also be available for the needs of student recreation.
